JoinedUp Rate Engine
JoinedUp allows you to preset hourly rates for both Pay and Charge where pay goes to the worker and charge to the client. You can set up different rates to be applicable depending on when the shift occurs e.g., Weekday, Weeknight, or Weekend. Instructions for building out Rate Cards are included in the Setting up Rates in Shift Templates article.

As shown in the sample Rate card above, the top section lists out all the rates applicable for the job and the bottom is a graphic representation of how these rates are applied throughout the week where each is represented by a different colour.
For example the Weekday rate with a £12 Charge and £10 Pay marked with the light green colour is to apply for all shifts carried out Monday-Friday between 06:00 and 18:00.
You can also set up overtime rates to be applied depending on the time of the week. In our example above the base rate of £10 goes up to £10.50 when the worker is doing overtime.
You can preset Bank Holiday rates and set up the dates when they are to be applied. This way anyone working a shift on a bank holiday will have their shift calculated at a special rate.

Lastly, you can set up some rules governing how these rates are applied to shifts and how breaks or overtimes are applied.
The breaks are applied automatically after a certain number of hours. You decide after how many hours before the break applies and how long it should be.
Overtime is applied following the same logic. You define after how many hours before the overtime kicks in.

With the rates preset beforehand and the times added after the shift has been completed JoinedUp covers the whole time spectrum and is able to engage the Rate Calculator to automatically calculate each shift for payroll.

As shown in the example above:
-
The shift was carried out on a Monday between 10:00 and 18:00.
-
The total duration from start until finish is 9 hours but we preset a 30-min non-paid break to be applied to all shifts running for 6 hours or more. The break gets deducted and we are left with the billable shift length of 8.5 hours.
-
The shift was carried out on a Monday during daytime so Weekday rates are applied.
-
The first 8 hours of the shift are calculated at the base rate and the last 30 minutes are calculated at the overtime rate.
